I woke up thinking it's just an ordinary Tuesday. Casually strolling to school while the sun is shining bright in the sky and not a thing to worry about. Once I stepped into class I totally forgot it was Athletics. My mind filled with frustration like 'What if I do not come a place?' or 'What if all the girls finish except me?'. I was so terrified that I couldn't even think properly but as I kept telling myself continuously that I can do it, all that frustration just went away like dust. We started off with 400 m, 100 m, 200 m and lastly relay. What a stressful day.
I am a Year 8 student at Ruapotaka School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 12 and my teacher is Mrs Golder.

π₯ Manaikalani Film Festival π₯
Yesterday our whole school was lucky enough to attend the Manaiakalani Film Festival. So basically this means a whole cluster of schools in the Tamaki Area created a short film on whatever topic they chose. Our movie was based on Rugby Values. It was all about good manners and what it takes to be a future rugby player. I hope everyone enjoyed our film because I know I did.

π Fitness Was An Epic Fail π
A few days ago we had our normal daily fitness which was fine. Everyone lined up in their dance groups very quietly and found out we were doing relays.
Once we started the relays, everyone was all over the place: students passing to wrong people, students not knowing who were in their team, students dropping their baton. It was so ridiculous even the teachers were confused.

But as time gradually went by, everyone stated to become familiar with the course and it became easier to perform.

π Duffy Role Model Assembly π
A couple of days ago we had our Duffy Role Model Assembly! I've always enjoyed Duffy Assembly since day 1, because they motivate us to become better readers in the future. Our special guest was Michel Mulipola, a Samoan comic book artist and a wrestler. He shared all his comic books with us that I haven't really seen. I was hoping I could read some of his comic books, but he was really inspiring throughout the whole assembly. I have to say that I enjoyed it anyway.

π So Much Running! π
For the last few weeks rooms 9,10 and 12 have been concentrating on our cross country. I was really devastated even though people say running is good for you in some ways. As we all started running round and round the block, I felt like I was going to collapse any minute but luckily I didn't. Once it was the last lap I thought I should at least put some effort in and so I did. Finally I had finished running. My legs were so numb and I could hardly breathe. But now I know if I just keep running I will be familiar with the routine and should be fit soon.

π Orienteering π
Yesterday I attended my first Orienteering. At first it was kind of nerve racking because I didn't know what to do. Once I received my piece of paper and map I quickly ran around looking for attachments. It was kind of hard to concentrate with the cold air blowing upon my face. After running around it started to ease down and I was really tired but I managed to keep going. As I became more familiar with the course it was like a piece of cake. Finally I darted off to Mr Leon and I was so surprised because I came first. I jumped with joy. Once everyone slowly made there way back and calmed down we all sat their patiently waiting. Overall Orienteering was so much fun. Do you love Orienteering?
