I woke up thinking it's just an ordinary Tuesday. Casually strolling to school while the sun is shining bright in the sky and not a thing to worry about. Once I stepped into class I totally forgot it was Athletics. My mind filled with frustration like 'What if I do not come a place?' or 'What if all the girls finish except me?'. I was so terrified that I couldn't even think properly but as I kept telling myself continuously that I can do it, all that frustration just went away like dust. We started off with 400 m, 100 m, 200 m and lastly relay. What a stressful day.

Yesterday our whole school was lucky enough to attend the Manaiakalani Film Festival. So basically this means a whole cluster of schools in the Tamaki Area created a short film on whatever topic they chose. Our movie was based on Rugby Values. It was all about good manners and what it takes to be a future rugby player. I hope everyone enjoyed our film because I know I did.

How do colours change? This week our class was working on an experiment. At first I felt I had no hope in completing this experiment, but as we slowly got stuck in to it I was wrong. We started off by cutting out 3 equal circles that was 1cm apart. After, we had to colour each side with red, green and blue then punch a hole with a nail. Once we had finished we used some wool to thread through the hole. I was so excited once it finished because I could see the different colours in the wheel and it was that simple. The purpose for this experiment was to find out if colours could change, it certainly did. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9141701817741050957.post-32079400543240227632017-09-14T09:49:00.005+12:002017-11-12T21:35:06.041+13:00 ๐ Duffy Role Model Assembly ๐A couple of days ago we had our Duffy Role Model Assembly! For the last few weeks rooms 9,10 and 12 have been concentrating on our cross country. I was really devastated even though people say running is good for you in some ways. As we all started running round and round the block, I felt like I was going to collapse any minute but luckily I didn't. Once it was the last lap I thought I should at least put some effort in and so I did. Finally I had finished running. My legs were so numb and I could hardly breathe. But now I know if I just keep running I will be familiar with the routine and should be fit soon.

There were so many songs to choose from, but the main song our teacher thought of was Moana: How Far I'll Go. Everyone in our class obviously knew the song especially me. Once the song started all of us were so shy to express our voices. I'm so happy to do skipping. For the past few weeks our class have been doing a lot of practice for our skipping display. Our warm ups have really been helping us to become better than before. After our warm ups we are split into groups of up to 5 or 6. I must say after all the hard work we've all put in, it actually showed when we were displaying our moves. Everyone had different skill levels with skipping - some were beginners and others were advanced. During our practice our teachers were choosing people for our skipping competition that will be happening at the end of the term. But I know that if we keep practicing it will all make a change!

For a few weeks we have been learning about Pasifika. I was so excited to learn about the lifestyles that usually happen back in the islands. Before we could start our drawings and designs, we had to create our own piece of writing about the Tongan Tapa. It was so hard to focus because of the noise in the classroom. I woke up extremely excited to go to school. I actually thought that 2 whole weeks without any learning and no friends was a bit too long. On the way to school I felt a slight chill heading towards me. As I slowly walked closer to class I spotted all my friends, I jumped with joy. As soon as the bell rang everyone walked casually to their daily fitness.
It's not that hard looking after a class for 10 minutes while the teacher is gone for lunch. But it is a huge responsibility to keep the classroom in order, and have the students listen to you. Yesterday I received my monitors badge for 2017. I received one last year but that was when I was kind of a beginner, and I was still learning to be a responsible leader and monitor.
This year the year 7 and 8's have been going to Tamaki College every Wednesday for Technicraft. The subjects the college have are Wood and Cooking.
